This patient previously had a breast augmentation and had developed a capsular contracture( is a tightening (“contracture”) of the scar tissue that forms around the breast implant after it is placed (the “capsule”). A capsulotomy was performed to open the capsule, which will allow room for a new implant and allow the breast implant to sit at its natural place on the chest wall.
